RAM PICKUP 1500
RAM PICKUP 1500
Ram Pickup 1500 - The ears have it.
In an era of increasingly civilized truck, a limited-edition Mopar ' 16 Ram 1500 pickup strikes a note which is quite challenging, announcing its presence with the exhaust basso profundo notes that has subjugated enough to become law but is a clear reminder that Yes, this has a Hemi.
This merits some explanation. There is a difference between this massaged Mopar Ram 1500 rebels and standard version. The base engine in the Ram 1500 is Chrysler rebel 305-hp 3.6-liter V-6. 500 copies of the Mopar ' 16 all-inclusive package rebel 395-hp Hemi V-8 5.7-liter, reflected on the window sticker as selection $1150 that is also available to all businesses without choosing Mopar. V-8 coupled with a $500 ZF eight-speed automatic (with manual shift mode but no paddles), the same transmission as normal Ram rebels. Mopar Edition also includes a 17-inch wheel black satin as a rebel, wearing a set of tires Toyo open country A/T spring knobby, size 285/70. And four-wheel drive is standard.
Package Mopar.
While this test truck included almost $8000 in a choice of non-Mopar, the crux of the problem is a package of Mopar ' 16 Custom Shop, which includes blacked out-out bottom of front fascia; Mopar hood and side panel graphics; flare black Loading wheel Pairs; and powder-coated skidplate front-end. Unless additional skidplate, none of this is really functional but adds $2800 bottom line.
Overview of the tires and the flare of the add-on indicates that Mopar ' 16 is meant as some kind of desert runner, in the vein of Ford F-150 Raptor. Standard ground clearance for Ram 1500 Quad Cab was 9.2 inches, but the springs of water add about an inch more and can handle desert cry-de-dos with a simple speed. And their high Toyos seem like they'll be quite capable in the rough dirt and sand, a kind of desert environment where the Raptor made his reputation based on the development of the suspension that went much deeper than the adds another inch of ground clearance.
But as with the previous Special Mopar - there are half a dozen, one per year since 2010, Mopars ' 10 through 15, with the rebels ' first based on a truck Ram — the real point here is to show some of the stuff in the vast warehouse of Mopar's. But the 2016 package doesn't do much for the rebel Ram other than making it look more macho. The only exception is Mopar's cat back exhaust system and a cold air intake, dealer installed options beyond the package '. Exhaust electric pulse made most every of the 5.7-liter V-8, opera creates a tempting internal combustion when the driver opens the throttle and fun cruise secluded rumble mode. Oddly, for all the sonorous exhaust notes, this cat back system is the core of improving the speed of the highway. Our test truck was measured two decibels quieter than the rebel Ram standard at 70 mph.
Intentional Dynamics.
Other elements of the insurgents ' 16 Mopar performance less attractive. Get the nearly three-ton truck to 60 mph in 7.0 seconds is impressive, but rebel V-8 equipped standard that we tested last year made a sprint in 6.5. The rebel is faster on a quarter-mile run.
Toyos-hardened not doing much good for the truck on the sidewalk. Model non-Mopar held a slight edge on the skidpad, where the second truck is understeer feasts, and that version also stop 14 feet shorter than the 70 mph. However, the distance to stop around 200 feet that not to brag about.
We are not able to run the Mopar ' 16 on this type of surface might like best-Inland Steel style. On the sidewalk, the great rebel, predictably, deliberate in response to transient. Generous travel suspension and high Centre of gravity add up to a lot of gestures and changes of direction that lazy.
On the other hand, a suspension that sops up all bad sustain Frost belt roads and highways have to offer, providing a lift cream. And it's quiet, too, until the driver call teasing machine Symphony.
Comfort features-comfort-a long list — including the excellent nine-speaker Alpine sound system. But for V-8 power junkies, that may be all Hemi backbeat audio required. Dealer-installed exhaust system goes for $1175, and that any additional equipment may be all complete Hemi rebels really need.
